Take Line 4, direction Porte d'Orleans, get off at Montparnasse Bienvenue. Take Line 6, direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile. Get off at Bir Hakeim.

Or you can ride the #6 a few stops further and get off at Trocadero. You'll be blessed with a fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower. Trocadero is also one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower.

There are two ways
1. Take the bus 42 (direction Hopital europeen Georges Pompidou) from Gare Du Nord to Tour Eiffel. it's the easiest way

2. Take the metro: First the RER to Denfert rochereau (direction Saint-Remy-les-Chevreuse) and then line 6 (direction Charles de Gaulle-Etoile) to Bir Hakeim

go to http://ratp.fr there are also maps

Take the RER B to Saint-Michel Notre Dame in the direction of either B2 Robinson or B4 Saint-Rémy-Le-Chevreuse and change onto the RER C in the direction of C5 Versailles Rive Gauche or C7 St-Quentin-en-Yvelines, getting of at Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel. The RER goes faster than the metro and stops less often, and it's still covered in the Paris Visite, day, week and Carte Orange passes. It sounds confusing but in fact it's really easy. The different destinations is because the line splits when it gets out into the suburbs but you don't need to worry about it when staying in the city.

From Champ de Mars station it's all signposted and you can see la tour eiffel.

Heres an interactive map (in French): http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteparis.php

A RER Map:

and a metro map with the RER lines on it as you'll probably need the metro as well if you're staying any length of time in paris:

Take the metro from Gare du Nord station (violet coloured line no. 4) to Bir-Hakeim. The Eiffel Tower is just around the corner on the quayside, well-signposted.
