The hotel St. Andre des Arts is perfectly located, almost exactly in the geographic center of Paris and within a few minutes walk of Notre Dame.

I've stayed at this place dozens of times over the last 35 years.

They have a room which is ideal for you. Two small sleeping rooms with a private WC and shower. for 113 € which includes breakfast and all taxes.

Its is, however, a very simple place with no elevator (but the room I describe is just one flight of stairs from the ground floor), no TV, no minibars or other accoutrement's one would expect to find at the Holiday Inn in Omaha.

NB: With all due respect to Chris the fact is that La Defense is a sterile, modern business district on the outskirts of Paris. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, "central."

we went to Residhome Prestige Millenaire for 3 days in begining of october, can't recommend it highly enough, only 10 mins stroll to La Defense metro station and another 15 mins on the train to Arc de Triomphe. I was searching for a hotel for ages and they were really expensive only a mile or so nearer the centre. This was brilliant value for money considering the price and standard of the competition

See if you go onto www.hotels.com, you can put the hotels in order of top rated, you can also choose how many stars you want and how central a location you want.

Remember that any decent hotel in the centre of Paris, is majorly expensive. So it could be an option to get a hotel close to a metro station and just travel to the main attractions.

I don't know what is your budget per night. On the other hand Paris districts looks like a snail shell. The first district is the most central, the twentieth arrondissement, is the most eccentric. But some districts have the advantage of benefiting great locations due to their architectural quality their proximity to famous monuments, Museums, squares, avenues. (ex : Paris 8, Paris 7, Paris 5, Paris 6, the most expensive ,Paris 16 or Paris 17, near Arc de Triomphe, which means Champs Elysses Avenue.) To spend not too much money, you have to check 2 or 1 star Hotel. You can also choose other districts cheaper, depending on your budget, (ex paris 15 is not expensive at all and quite nice. Public transport is perfect in Paris, and you can go very quickly from one place to another. As you travel with a child, the more interesting for you is to see hotels offering free nights for children. you can find this on various sites: accorhotels.com, parishotelsparis.com..etc. The best for you, is to get directly connected with the management of the hotel, so you can choose your room and negociate your prices. This is a little bit longer, but serves your interest. When you have made your choice, check with the Tripadvisor reviews, but be very careful with dates, hotels are often refurbished, resold..
You're welcome. I should advise you a 2 star hotel in the first district,

I would try tripadvisor.com and see what people who have been there recommend for hotels.

I would recommend checking out BookMe.com... You can compare all the major travel websites in 60 seconds, and only search for the ones you want. Keep checking, and eventually you find a GREAT deal! And they only search reputable/reliable sites, so you won't need to worry about anything.

Hotels in Paris are expensive if you want to be in the city. Someone I know who lives there has recommended these:

The Concorde St. Lazare Hotel near the Gare St. Lazare (train station). This is a fantastic hotel, with a great restaurant, and within walking distance of everything. My wife and I stayed there for 7 days a few years ago. It is an older hotel reflecting an earlier, and simpler, time. Across the street is a good restaurant that caters to the average Parisian. The oysters are simply marvelous. It is upscale.
