Its always difficult to know what people mean by phrase like "not too expensive."

The Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain is a delightful little hotel with all the amenities in an excellent location just off the blvd. St. Germain in the 6th arrondissement. They have a few doubles for as little as 150 euros although some doubles are as much as 350 euros. Even 350 euros is "not too expensive." compared to the George V where the cheapest room is 720 euros and the 150 euro doubles are positive bargains by comparison.

The Hotel de Nesle is a wonderfully quirky little place, also in the 6th but much simpler. A double there is only 75-100 euros. The room decor is an absolute delight. Check out the pictures on their website: http://www.hoteldenesleparis.com/

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Le Walt a couple of months before we married. It is a boutique hotel and its location is perfect just a short stroll from the Eiffel tower. the breakfast was very nice and there are some wonderful restaurants near by. The rooms were not huge but very unusual with huge paintings behind the bed. A very friendly place. If I was going again to the same area I would use this hotel.

If you are only going for the weekend please try to choose what you want to do in advance and not fit too much in, Paris is a HUGE place. We spent most of our time in coffee shops people watching! Price wise it was a couple of years ago, but we went in August and the weekend cost us Â£500.00 with flights from Manchester and 2 nights bed and breakfast.

My fav is hotel Raspail in Montparnasse. Art Deco with good beds and soundproofing. Good breakfast as well. Various prices depending on room size.

Mojo workin'

I was in one in April for 120 Euros per night for two people (98 euros for a single). Close to Pigalle and The Moulin Rouge too.
Paris is phenominally expensive so take your choice.

mostly all the hotels in paris suck , its all old and retorwy , lol
dont think that just because its expensive its going to be 812619 star hotel , thats what happened to me :<
and it was right next to chanzelize....
it was called hotel royal something lol
