go out, if U're at school it'll be easyto make new friends, if not go to clubs and practice smthing (sport, art). Try to meet people and don't be afraid of speaking french. We don't speak english well, so we'll help speak english.

Speak French, even badly, and folks will jump in to give assistance. Never put them in the position of having to use their own rusty English first, as the human reaction is to be self conscious and clam up, which just makes everyone feel badly for any number of reasons. Also, I suggest that you shop the street vendors for produce and cheese and bread. Use your French and you will have a good time. And don't always travel with a buddy. You may wind up speaking only to one another and miss out on contacts with new people. Think about running into someone here who is from someplace else. If they are chattering to a friend all the time, you may never talk with them at all.

look in English bookstores for ads for people looking for French/English language exchange. You'll make new friends and improve your French at the same time.

you can try by going online to social networks and search for people that live in france, you may find some in the city you're going to

We got a list of local clubs from the tourist information office and joined 2 we liked the sound of, in a year we have over 350 people we know and 20+ good friends! Easy

myspace has worked for me in very a similar situation. just dont go in to strong right away. go slow with a few different people and see whos seems cool. people will tell you its dangerous but you be the judge. you'll probably meet people there anyway so dont worry.

Try clicking on the french flag at the bottom of the page. You should be able to set up some keypals that way. I would be pretty careful of getting together with anyone you meet online, though. Use your smarts. You know there are people out there that aren't so nice!

Still, there are a number of sites where you can meet people online, just go for the French locales.

And be cautious about actually MEETING them! Go with people you trust, don't mess with older people, you know the drills.
