Well, you don't say where you are, or in what country the passport was issued... but, in general, if you contact the nearest passport office, or, if you're outside your own country, the Embassy, and ask them, they will be able to assist.
It may help if you have documentation proving an urgent need to travel - a business trip, family emergency, etc. I don't think that "I booked the ski trip and forgot to renew my passport" will go down too well, but you can try :-)

In the UK you can get a lot of these things sorted out quickly... for a vastly increased fee. Same day service would require you to go in person and pay lots of money.
