How would I ask for tap water in a French restaurant? And also, how would I say rare, medium rare, medium, and well-done in French (for steaks)?

Je voudrais une carafe de l'eau du robinet, s'il vous plait. I only know that "bien cuit" is well done ,I don't eat meat so I haven't remembered the words for medium or medium rare - sorry I couldn't help further!!

Tap water is " eau du robinet " but it's better asking for a" carafe d'eau ".
For the sentence " Can i get some tap water, please ?" you ask " Puis-je avoir une carafe d'eau s'il-vous-plaît ?".

Rare : cru
medium : saignant
well-done : à point

"Eau gratuit, s'il vous plait" -- a glass of FREE water please.

worldglobetrottergirl
If you just ask for water, you'll be served a bottle of water and may cost you up to 4 Euros. Ask for "un carafe d'eau, s'il vous plait." You'll get a nice, cool, free pitcher of water.

for water : une carafe d'eau s'il vout plait...
for steak :
rare --> bleu
medium rare --> saignant
medium --> à point
well-done --> bien cuit
Et voila

lilgymnastm13

ewwwenglish4francecom

for tap water you should say: "je veux de l'eau potalble" or "je veux de l'eau a boire"

duoak
I would not ask for tap water anywhere in France. It's not really safe or very palatable. You're better off asking for flat water. A large bottle of flat water for your table will only be about 5 or 6 euros. For steaks, "cuit" is well and "bien cuit" is well done.

ali
you can't drink tap water in france, you'll get sick
