You'll begin at the RER station at Charles DeGaulle Airport. Take any train (this the the B line) and get off at the St. Michel Station. When you exit the station you will be within sight of Notre Dame.

After seeing Notre Dame return to the station and take the RER C line. You want the any of the trains marked as heading to Versailles or Saint Quentin. You will see a sign on the platform with the names of the stations served by the train that is pulling in. You will be heading to the Champs de Mars/Tour Eiffel Station. Exiting the station the Eiffel Tower is impossible to miss.

After seeing the Eiffel Tower, walk north along the Quai Branly for a few blocks. You will find a bus stop for the #42 bus. Make sure it is marked "Direction: Gare du Nord" and take it to the Champs Elysee-Clemenceau stop. This will place you on the Champs Elysee and you will see the Arc de Triomphe to the west.

Walk up the Champs to the Arc and then, to return to the airport, enter the RER station at the Arc and take the RER A marked "Direction : Boissy-Saint-Leger" to the Chatelet-Les Halles station. From there you transfer to the RER C line to the airport.

From Charles De Gaule airport you have a bus, every 15 minutes, it's station is close to the Garnier Opera, just in the center of the city. From here you can walk and visit everything you want. Bon voyage !

You can make a connection between the RER and the Metro at the Gare du Nord. Actually the RER line that goes to Ch de G goes all the way through Paris, North-South, and you can pick it up at a number of major stations.

The best deal is to buy a "Paris Visite" combined RER and Metro pass at the airport train station. You have to get it at a cashier's window, and there's often a line, but it's worth it.

take the metro (underground)

Get on RER line B and get off at Denfert Rochereau. Take metro line 6 direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile. Go up to the street level and stroll down the Champs Elysees. You can see the Eiffel Tower from there, so walk in that direction. When you're done at the Eiffel Tower, go to the Champs de Mars RER station. Take line C direction Vitry sur Seine. Get off at St. Michel / St. Michel-Notre Dame and walk over to the cathedral. When you're done at Notre Dame, you can walk over to Chatelet Les Halles to take RER line B back to the airport.

By RER it is fast and cheap!
