Hi, I think you could get a pet's passport but you would have to see your vet. I wouldn't take my pet's abroad, i would be frightened in case they did get out and went missing. Try a good cattery at least you know they will be safe.

SunnyDays
You have not stated if they have full pet passports, if not, they cannot go, takes 6 months to get full pet passport due to the rabies blood test timings.
You need to consider the stress factor for the cats, they will not see this as you do, you must not humanise them, they are cats, and as such, will be better off going into a attery while you are away as they will not be happy in unfamiliar surroundings.
If you try to smuggle them out without pet passports, then you risk imprisonment and the cats will be destroyed

voandginger
Not a good idea. The cats will be nervous in the new environment and then want to mark everything. Cats re not good travelers.

Best to have a friend stop by your place and visit them (plus clean the litter box).

You could - however many European countries have quaranteen laws and you'd possibly have to have them quaranteened [upon arrival] for a period of time before they were released to you in that country. Check with the laws in France now. Many years ago I had to have my dog quaranteed for almost 3 weeks before they allowed him into france.

Also cats don't travel well.....and many have respiratory issues in planes due to short nasal passages. They might be much happier staying at home with a 'sitter' [yes, you have to pay, but you would have to pay bucks to fly them too] or being boarded. I use a sitter...who is bonded and comes every day and spends time feeding, playing with my kitty and cleaning the litter pan

When I was a kid and moving to Germany, my parents had a sit-down with the kids to be sure we wanted to risk bringing our dog overseas. There is a significant chance of your cat dying on the journey (not a huge risk, but likely enough to worry about). Sometimes pets aren't packed in with the rest of the baggage in a good way, or are handled poorly. They will usually be without food and water for most of the trip. We really had to think about whether it would be better to give her another home than take the risk. (In the end we took her with us and back and everything was fine.)

I wouldn't bring my pet on a plane ride overseas for vacation.

tell him to play dead and make everyone think he's a fur skin

I doubt it would be easy, it would stay in quarantine for about a month so unless you are staying like 6 months no
