We were there a few weeks ago. The euro to $ ratio is very bad right now. J

You have to do the Tower and at least go to the first level. We went all the way to the top - too crowed, too expensive and you get the same view, just higher up - and with grates & glass - not open like the first level.

Get there early - like right when they open. Your gonna be in line anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes + depending on when you arrive. You canâ€™t buy advanced tickets either which is a pain.

For the Metro, get a multi day pass at any metro station. Great deal and you do have to fidget with tickets each time you take the metro. The ticket will have a silver shiny tab on it.

Just a couple of suggestions.

1. Take the metro to the Charles Degalle / Arch station. Go to the top of the Arch. Great view. Then walk the length of the Champs de Eleseee <bad spelling here> and do some window shopping. Fun stuff. The metro runs along the ave so you can pick up the metro 2-3 stations down

2. Louvre - get their early. If your there to see the Mona Lisa & Venus thatâ€™s fine. That's where the crowds are. The Louvre is a complicate place. My suggestion is to check out the Large French master's paintings. Very cool wing and not that busy.

3. Sacre Coeur - itâ€™s free to go WALK the top. Good view of Paris. People go there to watch the sun set & walk around the area.

4. Sunday and Monday - all stores and most restaurants are closed. Hit up a market and stock up on drinks & snacks. Some attractions are close on Mondays & Tuesdays; check their hours on the web so you do get burned.

5. If you into Monet - you can check out the Dorsey. Again get their EARLY! Also you can check out the mussee de'lorange <again bad spelling> Not a big tourist attraction but if you dig Moet, you should see it.

6. If you want to see where Jim Morrison is buried, check out the Per-Lachase cemetery. Very creepy & cool place. A map will cost you 4 E and its right in front of the metro station.

7. Don't bother with Versailles. Take the time to go to Fountonblu. Much cooler place, not a busy and as garish & elaborate as Versailles.

We found the folks in Paris nice enough and willing to help with direction, etc. Most have some English skills so we really didn't have any issues.

well, when i was there last summer, the 1st level of the tower is 7 euros, the 2nd is 9 euros, and the very top is 11 euros. i reccomend that you go to the very top, so that you can see all of paris. at night, its especially beautiful...im not sure if the prices are the same every year, but im sure thats the price of it. maybe around there somewhere. the louvre is a beautiful place. if youre really into art and all that lovely stuff, go there. youll love it, and make sure not to miss the original mona lisa by leonardo da vinci. its smaller than people think it is. trocadero is actually the park where you stop to see the eiffel tower. nearby theres a museum called musee de marine, which is also very neat. sacre coeur, sacred heart, in english, sits at the top of a hill where its the highest church there is in paris. its absolutely a breathtaking view from here, because you can see the montparnasse building which is the tallest skyscraper in paris. keep in mind that if you do go up there, in the backside of the church there are some pesky artists that bother you to have your face drawn. they draw very nice, but they get annoying when you say no to them....anyway, i hope you enjoy your short stay in paris. youll love it, i promise you!

The Truth

The French usually take the entire months of July and August off from work and this is also the time when most Americans travel, so yes, the lines will be very long everywhere. Get up real early in the morning and be the first in line. Nothing like being alone with the Mona Lisa! I got to do it, but I had to get up about 6am. You should go to the Musee D'Orsay as well. A great museum for impressionism

To go to the first level of the Eiffle tower costs 4.50 â‚¬, the 2nd level costs 7.80 â‚¬ and the trip to the top will cost you 11.50 â‚¬.

My advice is don't bother. The lines are always long and while the view from the top is nice it is not significantly better than the view of Paris that you can see from either the plaza in front of Sacre Coeur, the top of the Arc de Triomphe or the Montparnasse Tower.

The Eiffel Tower is privately owned but just about every other sight is covered by the Paris Museum Pass (http://www.parismuseumpass.com/en/home.php). If you'll be doing a lot of sight seeing in a short time it can represent a significant saivings. However, you should also notice that many important sights have no entrance fee (Notre Dame, for example, is a working church and entrance is free. The Tocadero is a public plaza and has no entrance fee) and many which do have an entrance fee are free on at least one day a week, often Sunday).

Buy a Mobilis, a one day travel Pass each day, for zones 1-2. that will take you everywhere in the central city you will want to see.

There are an enormous number of sights and asking here is no substitute for taking the time to plan out an itinerary for each day which encompasses the sights you want to see.

well, i am just going to paris tomorrow!!! well the tower is prob $15 to $30 on a high...... just bring $250 thts wat my parents are doing!!! have fun wit it

The ques are really bad if you are going in the middle of the day but not if you go in the nighttime, for example
