If you wanna head out for a night on the town, and you're planning on drinking at clubs, beware -- that will get really really pricy. Head to any of the local Nicolas and pregame with 4-7 euro bottles of wine For about 6.50 you can get the 2006 L'ort D'Amorel which is absolutely delicious.

For the metro, you can just by packs of ten, called "carnets" for 11.40 euro for 10.

A lot of museums are free and many are cheaper if you're a student or under 26. Other sights -- as far as seeing the eiffel tower and sacre coeur and heading to the top of the tour montparnasse (great view, 7 euro for the elevator to the top) -- are free to look.

Food is the only thing that's probably gonna drive up the bill -- you can get really nice menus at places for 20-30 a meal, but lunchtime is where you can get awesome deals, and get a lot for about 10-12. Don't go to McDonalds. Please.

Hope this helps, enjoy!

If you are on a tight budget - and who ain't these days, you can eat well in most small Paris cafes or just head for the nearest McD's and stuff your face there. As for the rest I'm no good at that because when my partner and me do our annual Paris holiday we just stay in Montmartre which is the cheaper end of the city, the red light district.

If you get a Google Map of Paris, the entire city has now been photographed and this means you can walk up and down most of the streets because Google have camera/snapped the entire area for us to check out.

On this next link [map] you'll find the Gare du Nord, click on the Picture View and you'll be able to move up and down the street as though you were there. You only need a street name and you can go to any part of Paris via Google Maps and walk about - brilliant.

Have a great time in Paris - sorry I don't have the info you really want. Just take as much cash as you can and spend carefully on what you really really want.
