Well, I had a hotel for about 60 Euros, and spend 40 euros a day for food, eating one meal (lunch) in restaurants and I had dinner from the grocery store. I didn't pay any admissions fees to anywhere, didn't do anything touristic except walk around the city.
So, if you don't know how to budget your money or have an expensive hotel, you might want to get a home equity loan before you go. Even just a coffee for breakfast was 4 euros.
I found a prix fixe lunch for about 15 euros, but that was lucky.
You can save a lot in restaurants if you just ask for a carafe d'eau (water) to drink. And instead of ordering dessert in a restaurant, go into a patisserie or boulangerie and try some of the fantastic baked goods.
Look in Lonely Planet Guide to France or Europe to get good tips on affordable hotels and restaurants. |

Hi there Ally,
What fun! A whole week in Paris!
I've just spent an amazing 3 weeks in France, so I've got a pretty good idea of costs.
It all boils down to which currency you're using, and whether you're travelling as a backpacker, hotel traveller, top of the range exclusive hotel traveller.
If you want to convert your currency, go to:
http://www.xe.com
While you're in Paris, try not to convert every single thing back into your own currency - it's easier just to work out what you can afford each day, and don't go over your budget.
Some sample prices for you:
Cafe latte in a great cafe 3,0 Euro
Croissant 1,0 Euro
Baguette sandwich with ham, cheese etc 6-10 Euro
Bottle of water 1,50 Euro
Dinner 15,0 Euro and up, depending on your budget
Accommodation 35,0 Euro and up
try http://www.Paris35.com
I do hope this helps! If you're travelling with someone else, your hotel costs will be half and you can often split other bills too.
Have a great time,
Bon vacance!

how much shopping do you plan to do ? what is your eating style like. you can eat as cheap or as expensive as you like or anywhere in the middle. plan your budget accordingly. i'd bring a bit extra , or have a credit card, just in case. |

about 20 euros a day to live cheaply and about 70 euros a day to live lavishly
i'd say take between $500 and $1500 spending unless of course you plan on flying or training to rome, italy or somewhere else nearby, then bring more, like $2000. |

Better bring about $1500-$2000 |

none. i don't. they have money falling out their pockets in that town. you just pay attention when they all get drunk at night and you will find plenty of money. |

None.
Don't use cash. Use travellers cheques or credit card. Speak to your local bank for best insured means of transactions. |

If its to cover hotels, food, etc i would say at least a £1,000
both places can be very expensive. Seems a lot for one week, though I'd go somewhere sunny for a month for that... |

You really need to tell us what type of traveler you are. Do you want to eat steak and fish or are you OK with a crepe?
You can eat very reasonable at most restaurants by ordering from the fixed menu. It will usually include your choice of appetizer, main course and dessert. This can range from 12 Euros to 100's of Euros depending on where you go.
I just got back from Paris and I would say that 100 Euros per day is sufficient to eat well, visit most tourist attractions and purchase some small souvenir's . This would obviously not include your hotel.
Also, buy the Museum Pass and a carnet (10 tickets) for the metro. |

It cost us (my wife and I) about $600 per day including hotel, food, transportation, gifts, entertainment, in a typical tourist doing a nice time on vacation (anniversary) kind of way. 440 euros, roughly, of which 195 was for the hotel per night in May/June this year. We also took day trips to Normandy, Versailles and London on the EuroStar, ate in the Eiffel Tower, Ciel du Paris and had a dinner cruise on the Seine and saw all the sites in Paris. If you're interested, visit my trip with lots of details in Yahoo Trip Planner, under my name, or click below. Bon Voyage and my best to you that you have a great trip! |
