Hello, Sky!
I have read your question and notice that it is posted from the USA.
The data given about living cost is far below what they are now.
Life in Paris is very expensive, but in any case if you are an American citizen, you will not be allowed into the EU zone for anything other than tourism, and the maximum stay is 90 days. You will not be allowed to work, and any French person employing a non EU national who is without a work permit is liable to be prosecuted and pay a heavy fine.
If you want to stay for six months to a year you need to apply to your nearest French consulate for a visa , but you still will not be allowed in unless you already work for the diplomatic service, or have exceptional qualifications in a specialised field which would allow you to be sponsored by a firm established in France. You would be required to provide evidence that you can support yourself financially whilst you are in France before they let you in.
At the moment the work situation in France is very bad and there are many well qualified French people who cannot find work at all and have to take menial jobs to feed themselves (when they can get them!).

This works both ways,as similar rules are imposed by the USA on EU citizens who want to go and work in the States.

Accommodation: between 500 and 900 euros a month
Transport: 50 euros a month
Food: (very personal, but I spent about) 50 euros a month
Social life: drinks approx 3 - 10 euro each, club entry 10 - 15 euro
Utility bills: about 20 euros a month
Telephone and Internet: 30 euros a month
Mobile phone: 50 euros a month

These are all quite high estimations, but I lived there last year, and if Paris is anything like the rest of the world it will have got more expensive to live in recent times!!!
