How much would it cost to go to Paris for a week (more details inside)? |
My friend is going when she turns 16 and I wanna go to,but I'd have to pay for my own things. How much would it be for flights,a week in a hotel (split the cost with my friends mom) and extras like going to dinner, museums, etc. Can anyone give me an approximate price? |

Prices vary widely for all costs and also depend on where your are flying from and what time of year you go. High season runs from around April thru October with the summer months being the very most expensive.
So, for example, booked today, a flight from NYC to Paris in February will cost you $615 while a flight in June would cost $1146.
Hotel prices also have a very wide range. My favorite little hotel, the Hotel St. Andre des Arts, located right in the center of Paris has doubles for 89 (about $135) euros and triples for 113 euros (about $172). That includes breakfast and all taxes. That would be considered on the low end of costs although there are many places that are even cheaper. On the high end are places like the Ritz where a double costs more than $1000.
Food costs can vary from a sandwich purchased at a street stand or a cafe to multicourse dinners in world famous Michelin three star restaruants. While Paris prices can be high the fact is that the quality is so good that they are good value for money.
Even so the costs can be modest. Along the rue Mouffetard in the 5th arrondissment, you find dozens of pleasant little retaurants where a three course meal at lunch (when prices are lower) with a glass of wine will cost you only 12 euros (about $17). If you choose wisely you can eat well and have food costs of no more than $30-35 a day.
Sightseeing costs, including taking a few rides on the Metro or a bus every day will probably average $15-20 a day.
So, split a triple room at the Hotel St. Andre, have your big meal every day at lunchtime, and take public transportation (rather than taxis) to go sightseeing and your costs are roughly $700 plus your airfare for a week.

Depends on where you live. Let's say you're flying JFK (New York) to CDG (Paris).
Your flight will come out to around 750. Hotel at 200 dollars a night times 6 nights will be 1200. Divided by two for the split cost is 600. Extras can very tremendously. How much are you going to shop? You can easily spend thousands on the Avenue Montaigne and not even realize it. Food is also very expensive. This morning I bought a cappuccino and a croissant for 8 €, or about 11 dollars. Museums are usually about free for students/youth, basically anyone under 18. So let's say you spend 60 dollars a day on food, 80 on shopping, and another 40 on who knows what. 180 a day times 6 days would be 1080. Your grand total then comes out to 2430 =]
Hope this helps! |
