Its the best refer to french consulate at your own country to determine if you required visitor visa come to France, as certain country nationality exempted but only up to 90 days stay.

Americans do not need a visa to visit France, unless you are planning to stay over 90 days. All you need is a valid passport.

FRANCE - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist/business stay of up to 90 days in France, Andorra, Monaco, and Corsica, and 1 month in French Polynesia. (**90-day period begins when entering Schengen countries). Stays exceeding 90 days require a visa. Visa requires passport (3 months validity after departure), 4 long-stay visa applications, 5 recent passport sized photos, 3 copies proof of sufficient funds, proof of valid medical insurance, 3 copies police clearance (obtained from police department in U.S.), and letter certifying that no paid activity will occur. depends where you are from, you may need to go to an embassy as one of my friends from Thailand had to go to an embassy to apply for a visa to go to France.
