I suggest using the following:
Merci."
Let me know how it works.
p.s. I guess you could try what some of the other people suggested, but it wouldn't be as fun, would it?
p.p.s. Angie's translation is the one that I'd suggest AVOIDING!! Haha. That's because "used" is translated as the verb "to use". Anyway, if you used her translation you'd get a lot of puzzled looks. My translation on the other hand... haha! |

As I understand you want to say that you spoke French sometime ago.In that case, you can say:
1.J'avais l'habitude de parler le francais.
2.J'ai parle le francais,il y a quelque temps. |
|

Espectacularrrrr!
|
Mmmh... I would say "Je parlais français" or "J'avais l'habitude de parler français", cause "I used to" can be translated in "Je + past tense verb", or "Je + avoir l'habitude de". I would choose the first sentence, cause it's more usual to hear this, but both are correct. I think it depends on the context of your sentence. |

Saying "je parlais français" is equivalent to "I spoke French" and to get the same sense as in "I used to speak French", something is missing.
I would suggest : "j'ai parlé français mais je ne le pratique plus."
I used to speak French but I do not practice anymore. |
