Hello From France,
We use plug type "type F" - two fat prongs. Commonly known as "Schuko plug". It is used for most of Europe except the U.K.
France and Italy use type F "Schuko plug"
Go to this website and click on "F" type plug and you can see a picture.

I travel a lot so this helps me a great deal.

IT depends on the appliance your bringing, you gotta look on the label on the plug and see if the voltage does 240v on it, if not the plug adapter wont be enough and youll just fry your appliance or w/e you bring. youll need to by a voltage converter while your over there, they can cost about 25 bucks for a decent one. |

For rechargers, you don't need to worry about the voltage. Just slap on an adapter to your plug. Some electrical items, like hair dryers have a switch that you can change them from 110 to 220. That might work with an adaptor as well but often they "fry" anyway.
I've had bad luck with converters. It's a lot to drag around unless you really need one, I would avoid buying/bringing one.
I can say that a lot of personal items are about the same price over here and then you could use them for any future trips, even to Asia or any other 220 voltage countries. Consider this is you do travel overseas a lot. |
