I'm going to Paris for 3 days on Thurs with my girlfriend. We are in our early 20's, any tips,advice,etc ???

Check out tripadvisor.co.uk. There are are plenty of posts on the forums about Paris. You can search the forum for restaurants, bars, clubs, and places to visit during the day.

By the way, eating out in Paris can be expensive, especially in the touristy areas, but a pint of beer is definately not Â£8.

To get to your hotel from CDG airport take the RER B from the station inside the airport to Gare du Nord.

At Gare du Nord transfer to Metro line #2 and take the train marked "Direction : Porte Dauphine (Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny)" to the Place de Clichy station.

Change to Metro line # 13 and take the train marked "Direction : Gabriel-Peri-Asnieres Gennevilliers" which will take you to the Porte de Clichy station.

When you exit the Metro you will find yourself at the intersection of the Avenue de la Porte de Clichy and the Blvd. Bessieres. Walk up the Avenue de la Porte de Clichy (the direction is roughly northwest) which will intersect with the Blvd. Douaumont. Cross the Blvd. Douaumont and turn to your right. The Rue du 8 Mai intersects from what will be your left and your hotel is right there.

The entire trip from the airport will take almost an hour.

Please note that although this hotel calls itself the Holiday Inn Clichy PARIS it is NOT in Paris but a suburb and a considerable distance from the center. During the day the metro will get you to, for example, Notre Dame in maybe 20 minutes or so. At night you will have to catch the Night Bus which will extend the journey itself to more than half an hour (not counting the time you are waiting for the less frequent night buses to arrive or depart.)

What that means is that the popular places to go at at night, which tend to be in the center, will be inconvenient.

Drinks are more expensive in Paris than in Scotland although Â£8 gbp for a pint is a bit much even for Paris.

You will find that "drinking for effect" is generally not the practice in Paris and people tend to nurse one drink for what seems like a very long time for someone from the British isles. Most serious drinking is done at home.

As to the weather, the high next Thursday is predicted to be 46 degrees F and the low 40 F. the temperature will fall slightly thru the weekend. Skies will be cloudy but no rain is expected.

A final thought is that if you are committed to staying in this location then the thing to do is to hang around there at night rather than trying to get to the popular places in the center. There is just about no neighborhood in the greater Paris region that does not have local bars, cafes and restaurants.

Notice the Bar le Celtique at 33, rue Villeneuve. It might turn out to be interesting.

porte de clichy is one of the exits of a ring road around central paris
take train - there are more than one type and price

whatever you do go to the top of eiffell tower it is wonderful
it is cold this time of year dress well
go to place the concorde and to madeleine (these are parts of the city that are v nice)
prices are probably higher on champs elysees so go to monmartre - at the top of it is the big church 'sacre coeur'
and dont forget notre dame on ile de france (an island in the middle of the river seine)

le marais is supposed to be fun - i dont know i just heard that

Your hotel is 5 minutes from the metro station (500m). The metro runs until 00:40 on weekdays 1:40 am on fridays and saturdays.
A beer costs around 4 or 5 euros. Maybe a little more in hip places.
You can eat in a restaurant and get a nice meal for 15 euros. (20 to 25 if you include wine and coffee.)

Your flying to charles de gaulle (not charles le goulle!).
Take the RERB then the mÃ©tro.
the weather is cold and rainy.
Go and see the touristy stuff like the eiffel tower, the champs Ã©lysÃ©es, Notre Dame and The Louvre.
And we don't do pubs and clubs in France, we've got bars, cafÃ©s and boites de nuit. Try the cafÃ© de Flore or Les Deux Magots.

i came back from paris the other day - i stayed for 4 days and went with a friend.

the public transport system is great, with both trains and underground trains coming anywhere between 1 and 7 minutes. there are trains that go everywhere, so chances are you are somewhere near a train station.

i noticed it was expenisve, one night we payed â‚¬68 for a meal (for 2), though it was very nice but only in a bistro, not a full on restaurant.

the weather was good for us, 8 and 9 degrees roughly, each day were were there.

it may help to get a guide before you go, try and get one with a map of BOTH the subway/train routes and a city map - makes everything easier.

we did:
eiffel tower, we walked. big line up (nearly 2 hours) so worth it!
versailles, good but a lot of people, also waited nearly 2 hours in line
notre dame and sacre coure were good also
arc du tripomhe was pretty - we saw it in day and night
the lourve was okay, the mona lisa small :( was good to see though but not many other famous paintings to me there.

shopping!
galleries lafyette (dior, versace etc.) nice for the girlfriend to have a look.
also went to forum les halles which was good, not pricy.

people can speak english, some are aroggrant.

watch for pick pockets!

Simply ask at the Information boot how to get to your hotel. There are buses and trains.
About what to see in Paris, this website lists most touristic things, although you may not be able to see them all in 3 days:

as for a price of beer, you may want to consider French wines rather than beer, you are going to France after all!

when in a restaurant, you may ask for demi-bouteille (half-a-bottle) of "du vin au maison" (house wine of this restaurant) usually the most budget on a price list but not bad at all.
If you have sea food or fish, you may ask for "du vin blan" and for red meat or chicken, ask for red - "du vin rouge".

If they ask would you like some water, you may ask for "carafe d'eau" - which is a pitcher of tup water (tup water in France is of a premier quality, so don't worry about it) otherwise, you will get quite expensive St Pelegrino mineral water.

Of course you have to have French croissans with coffee for breakfast and you have to try a fantastic salad called "chevre chaud" - they serve grilled goat chees slices on a little toasts served on a bed of salad leaves - it's really good!

No wis season for mussles - French cook it in white wine, with garlic and frech cream, it's delicious and usually not too expensive. is served in a huge pot :-)

There are menues hang out at the windows, so before entering any restaurant you can always check the menue first. But don't exageratre, most important to keep it romantic and not to look cheap in front of your girlfriend.

Take a corkscrew and a knife. Go to the market for your food. Eat your food by the river. Who needs a restaurant anyways?? Go to the churches... Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, . Go to the gardens...Jardin du Luxembourg. Visit Eiffel and Arc De Triumph.
Grab a coffee at Cafe de Flore.
Sit on a bench and just enjoy!!

->Yes and no. Depends on where you're going. We drink beer in half-pint here usually. It will be from 2 euros to 5-6 euros in expensive places.

What's the weather usually like at this time of year?
->Not good.

What sights/places should we should go and see?
->The usual stuffs I guess. Eiffel Tower, some museums, walking along the Seine, Montmartre, les Buttes-Chaumonts (not famous but great park).

What pubs/clubs should we go to?
->To drink and have fun with people of your age, go to Bastille and around.

Make sure you know where your going at Charles le Goulle, it is quite big lol. Went to disney a few years back, and i thought the airport was pretty confusing.

not sure about ur hotel local but on the champs elasee (wotever) the hard rock cafe does a mean happy hour! drinks cocktails etc half price!

a place called chiwawas is good to(i spelt it phonetically) and around the concorde area!

Paris is about as expensive as London and has roughly the same weather.
If I was taking a girl in her early twenties there for three days none of this would be of any interest to me.
I wouldn`t leave the hotel !!!
