Just act snotty.

Give me a break: unless you speak fluent french you are going to "stick out". Just enjoy the ride.

Honestly? Don't bring shorts or sneakers. You didn't say whether you are a boy or girl.
Boy: Wear jeans, but french boys wear tighter jeans. No baggy stuff. They also like polo shirts but leave the collar up. Zippered sweatshirts are ok, but not baggy ones, and no hoodies. The Abercrombie look with the collar up is kind of the style.
There is a tectonique look for your age there now, too, which is REALLY tight jeans and kind of punk-ish.
For a girl, dress up more. Again, no shorts, hoodies, baggy jeans, sloppy look. Dress up more. Have fun! I love paris.

Paris is a city of chicness and boldness, so you definitely want to look through a few French magazines and see what the latest trend over there is. Also, don't bring sneakers! Wearing sneakers is a huge give-away as to a traveling American! Try some comfortable boots, fashion forward clothes, and you should be good to go!

converse are super popular
but you have to grunge them up a bit, look vintage
don't go too preppy or touristy

**I CAN HELP**
I am a 13 year old living in France, originally from the US
A lot of people wear converse..mostly black, but you occasionally see brightly colored ones, high tops, boots, low tops , you name it
As in the u.s., the french are into skinny jeans-of All colors.
I'm sure you weren't just talking about what you look like, so it would be important to know a few french words..hello, thank you, good bye..for example.
those are easy and will come in handy
If you really want to fit in, though, you would have to walk around really fast, smoking a cigarette, without a map..
that would be hard for a tourist, and even now that i am a resident, I still find myself telling my dad to take the guidebook out of his back pocket
Even if your family sticks out a little, think about all of the millions of visitors that come to france every year, and some of them will end up being worse off that you
Have fun, france is wonderful
bonne journey!

It really doesn't matter what you wear - you will always stick out as being from someplace else, especially if you speak a word. Better to dress comfortably (not sloppily). Nice (not raggedy) jeans worn with a blouse or polo and a sweater will be fine. If you're a girl, a just above the knee skirt with tights would be ok too.

Wear loafers or other casual to dressy shoes - no sneakers, except maybe for the Converse shoes that look kind of like you'd wear them on a boat deck.

You are going to stick out with T-Shirts, your jeans and comfortable shoes. You are probably bettter fed and healthier than your french friends, you can't help but stick out.

Dazed and confused
go usa all the way, the french love that. start with a red white and blue usa flag on your shirt and backpack to match and you will need some good running shoes to go with that

Noor P
bring a french hat and black and white stripes
