From Paris to the south you can take the TGV from Gare de Lyon to Avignon, Aix, or Marseille (all in roughly the same region in Provence) or further east to Lyon or to Nice in the Cote d'Azur.
I'd recommend going to Aix, staying there, doing at least one day trip (by bus or train - it's cheap and quick) to Marseille, and also Avignon if you have the time. You can walk around essentially all of Aix.
If you go to Nice take a day trip (by train) to Monaco, and perhaps to Cannes.
I can't really tell you anything about Lyon, but it would certainly be a nice destination as well.
TGV tickets are not particularly cheap, though student ID might save you something. But it's a great way to travel - fast, smooth, easy. It's only about 3-1/2 hours from Paris Gare de Lyon to Marseille St. Charles station, and a little less to Avignon or Aix TGV. Wonderful scenery on the way, too. |

Going from paris to southern france, nice towns to visit are Dijon, Lyon, Avignon, with a lot of train. If you 're under 25 years old, you will have discount prices.

Just got back from a week in Paris.
I assume you're using the famed chunnel..
Paris.. ok then. My recommendations would be do definetely pick up a guidebook- just a simple one will help a little- and work out the bus system will help. There are like pretty much NO buses after 10 o'clock, so watch out for that. Student discout? eh... i'm 17 and i had to pay the full 1.40 euros for a single ticket. Montparnasse tower. Amazing building. Mucho recommendation. For views, arc the triomph, for me, was the best. It topped the eiffel tower, as it was simply totally IN the middle of the champs elysees. Watching the traffic down on the gigantic round-a-bout was frikken funny.
montparnasse tower is cheap too..
if you're checkin out the eiffel tower- walk up. Well, actually, you can't walk UP to the top, but you can walk up to the second level. It takes like 30 minutes, and there are refreshments on the way on each level. you can take the elevator for three euros (totally six per person for the eiffel tower deal) up to the top.
good luck mate, bon voyage |

I know that the south part of france is ABSOLUTLEY beautiful. If you go to Nice or ST. Tropez you will be guaranteed to see gorgeous ocean and tropics. How are u going from paris to london by train? London is in England which is an island, its not a part of europe it self even tho it is considered europe. |

Buy a Rail Europe Pass. Visit the French Cities with the big Cathedrals and look for the Knights Templar. Go to Aix and Lyon and to the Riviera and Monte Carlo. |

A Eurail Pass (or something like that) is a good bet. You can find the discounted student tickets at http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm
There are sometimes promotion codes for Rail Europe (for an extra discount) available at http://www.shoppersresource.com/onlinecoupons/raileurope-coupon-codes.htm |
