This website is reliable for hostels: http://www.cheaphostel.com/
For cheap hotels this site is good: http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/
My personal suggestion is the Hotel St. Andre des Artes: http://www.123france.com/en/0/hotel-saint-andre-des-arts-paris_486_en/index.html |

If you want a really well located hotel, in a lively district, I would recommend Hotel Welcome in the heart of St-Germain des Prés. Rooms are really small and not particularly beautiful but they are clean and staff is friendly and helpful:

Although I just checked the prices when I went to look for their website and it is not as cheap as it used to be. So the best site is the one mentioned by Rilifane: eurocheapo.com. Stick to hotels in the Latin Quarter, St-Germain and Marais if you want central, lively and charming locations.
Otherwise, I know a lovely 2BDR apartment outside Paris (15 minute subway ride) in a beautiful, safe area for 400 euros a week. So for two weeks it would come to 57 euros/night. You would also save on food since you could make your own breakfasts and wouln't have to eat out every night. It's in a fabulous location but not in central Paris. You would also spend 21 € each on a weekly subway pass. Let me know if you are interested. |

I stayed at the Montpensier last year, and it was cheaper for two of us to stay in a room with a toilet and sink, with shower outside the room than it was for us to stay at a hostel. Have a great time! |
