I'm spending a month in France, what are the best places to do/see? |
I'm defiantly checking out the Louvre (is that something that would take up the whole day?), Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and Normandy. But what else is worth seeing? |

you may have a trip on a boat "bateaux-mouches" on "La Seine" . You could visit "le chateau de Versailles" the old residence of king "Louis XIV" which is near Paris . You might visit "Parc Astérix" or Dysneyland (which is not typically french ).
you might visit "les chateaux de la Loire " . Les Champs Elysées . if you want to travel around France may be you could visit a " cave de champagne " where this wine is produced in Reims or Epernay . |

everyone goes to paris (and you should too), but don't forget to look at the smaller but still beautiful places: nancy, colmar, and make time for the cote d'azur. |

Yes, Louvre takes up a day atleast. If you really like Art and such, you should break it up in two days- there's so much to see!
Try different resteraunts, although they'll probably quite expensive...And walk along the Seine, and sip coffee at cafes, and walk around with a sketch book, a scarf wrapped around your neck..
I'm sorry, for blabbering..Paris is just a very romantic city. |

The Louvre could take up a whole year if you were really interested in art although that would be a bit much for my own tastes. But you should certainly plan on a full day or perhaps two half days.
The Musee D'Orsay which emphasizes the Impressionists is a gorgeous museum and the Cluny Museum, which has medieval art and is housed in what was home of an Abbot are also worth spending some time in.
Take a day trip to Versailles and see the main chateau and the two smaller palaces, the Grand and Petit Trianons and the little fake country hamlet that Marie Antoinette built so she and her aristocrat fiends could pretend to be simple folk. (One look at this place and you'll understand why they cut her head off).
See Sacre Coeur, the Romanesque Church on the heights of Montmartre and, while you're their wander around the streets that were home to Picasso and Utrillo (among others). Take a gander at the world's worst contemporary art for sale in the Place Teatre. Walk down the hill to Pigalle and see the Moulin rouge made famous by Toulouse Lautrec. (Don't go to the show though...its tourist trap for witless rubes).
After you look at Notre Dame cross the street and go see St. Chapelle which Louis IX built to house the Crown of Thorns (or at least what the Venetians conned him into thinking was the crown of thorns). Then walk around the corner and see the Conceirgerie, a medieval fortress that housed Marie Antoinette and assorted aristos before the Guillotine shortened them by a head. to make the experience complete walk over to the Place de la Concord where the Guillotine used to stand and where there is now a very nifty Egyptian obelisk. |

Go to Mont St Michel, it's absolutely beautiful it's in Normandy. It's a an abbaye on a sort of island, it's hard to describe, but it's a must see! You could also see les chateaux de la Loire if you like castles. Provence is absolutely beautiful with its lavender fields and old villages... You could also go to Monaco, it's pretty cool! There are tons of place to see... Have fun! |

Sure you should visit Toulouse (south-west), Colmar (north-east) and Tours (south west of Paris). |
