it will tell you when it expires on the passport

Typically passports need to have a minimum of 6 months left for them to be vaild. However becase you are travelling to another EU country if you have less than 6 months left then it is usually fine to travel. Just so long as it is still valid for the day that you return!

6 months from the first day of your holiday.

i googled it for you, i hope this is right- i wouldnt worry in any case, they only have a quick glance to check its you.

It depends on country to country. Ultimately it has to at least cover the time that you're spending over there.

Call the French Embassy or someone to double check. Better to say today that you can't go rather then to have to get to passport control at the airport and then someone tell you!

You have to have enough time on it to cover you thru your return date The expiry date is on the 2nd page of your Passport Next trip check sooner Homeland Security is getting tough. This applies to US passport holders only.

You need your passport to cover the whole of your trip, it has to be valid on the day you return to the UK.

Other countries require a passport to be valid for several months past the expected return date, this is not the case with travel to France.

Have fun..
