You may walk on Champs Elysees, but not to shop. For shopping use Galleries La Fayette of the chain Printemps, where you can find all kind of things. Anyway, bring much money with you and you'll have a nice trip.

Hi I suggest that if your looking for souviners, go down the Champs Ellessye,,,, there are plenty of shops ..

There is a very good t-shirt shop near the Pompadue center...

Good luck

what ever u do..bring A LOT of money...in 4 days we managed to spend about 2,000 american dollars. EVERYTHING is expensive..truth is i havent seen a store besides those little souveniere shops that sell clothing items for less than 100 american dollars. yes there are stores that arent as expensive as the others..but its still expensive..i dont think ud be able to find anything like an old navy or something over there..just the way they all dress and look is amazing..so good luck and have fun :D..if ur going to the eiffel tower dont talk to the gypsies they try to rob u..and even tho its expensive u should also try a tour of Paris..its amazing the history that city has.

Paris is the greatest city I have ever been to and I have been to many large cities. You must go into the Montmartre district. The shops are wonderful and watch the sun go down from the stairs at Sacre Coure. Dont miss the usual things, eiffel, champs, roudin museum, louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame, etc. But take the time to sit at a cafe and watch the people go by while having a latte'. Excellent! Use the Metro...dont try to drive. If you have the chance to take the train to Versailles...do it!

If shopping is your main objective, go there in mid-January during the period of sales.

There is a book (in French), which gives information about many shopping bargains - Paris Pas Cher (http://www.amazon.com/Paris-Cher-2006-Anne-Riou/dp/032003688X)

There are department stores less expensive than Galerie Lafayette, Printemps and Samaritaine, with value for money much better. For example, try C&A (there is one on Montparnasse and more in other areas). I think Tati is too low quality, but I might be wrong.

What kind of shopping?

Sometimes inside the subway stations, you have some stuffs which are nice (not always in the shop), like in Auber.

Now for daily supplies shop or clothes, there is always tati in Barbes (not the best part of Paris, and you better watch out for picpocket).

You can try also in la Defense

Malls like Galeries Lafayette will be rather expensive. You might want to look at Les Halles (but don't go there after dark!), and also at shops on the greater boulevards. When I was there last, I was located near the Boulevard de Sébastopol and I found a good number of fun shops that weren't too expensive in the vicinity. The Quartier Montmartre, as well as Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue Saint-Jacques on the south shore are also pretty commercial.

Here are some tips at http://paris.c-lafrance.com/Loisirs-Visites/Shopping/

However it depends what kind of shopping you are aiming at :
- souvenirs : Montmartre
- every day use goods : Hypermarket (Carrefour Bercy for instance
- material : Marché St-Pierre (at the bottom of the Sacred Heart Church
- cheap goods (but you have to look carefully for the quality : Barbès
- Flee Market : Clignacourt/St-Ouen
- Departemental Stores : Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, BHV
- Shopping arcade : Les Halles
- Brandy goods at 30-50% discount : Val d'Europe (Station before Chessy-Disneyland on RER A line)
- Don't forget the morning markets in the most external districts of Paris (11th to 20th) : they sell a lot of small craftwork gimmicks (rings, braces, collar, ...) at 1 to 5 euros.
