I am bringing my niece to Paris in a few weeks time. i was wondering if there are any suggestions for "cheapish" evenings out after most of the public sights close,we are hoping to take a Sein Cruise on one of the evenings but were interested to find ideas for the other 2 nights ,We will be staying about a mile from the Arc .

I am a Parisian now living in Texas, Paris is a city to walk and get lost, areas that are fun (nice buildings etc) are St Germain des Pres, Le Marais, Le Quartier LAtin, I would avoid the Champs ELysees or at least stay with crowds, it also happens to be the hangout for the pickpockets as any tourists locations so be aware, put wallet in front pocket, metro is also prone to it.
Make sre you are aware that restaurants do not have free refills for drinks except tap water, you do not need to go mad on tips as you will notice your bills include an 18% service charge, excpet if they go out of their way and deserve it of course. taxis is all inclusive (there is a sticker on the window but walking is still the best

It would be helpful if you provided us with some rather obvious information.

How old is your neice? Is she 7? 17? 27?

How old are you? 20? 40? 60?

A mile from the Arc de Triomphe? In what direction? Why don't you tell us the actual address of your hotel or the closest metro stop?

What constitutes "cheapish"? Why don't you give an actual range in some currency?

I doubt that many people here are mind readers.

I'd go to the Cathedral Sacre Coeur in Momartre. Climb the stairs or take the lift up to the church and it has the best night view Paris. Walk further behind the church, the cafes and shops are alive at night with tourists and artists.

Walk on the Champs d'Elysee like regular French ppl. Stay in the hotel and enjoy French tv. Eat at a French fast food restaurant or local bistro (not a 5 star restaurant).

I would say formule 1 hotel also. There are so many in Paris.
