Melody, there are many places called "Vicq" in France and they are all different.
Vicq may refer to the following places in France:
(a commune is a district).
Vicq, Allier, a commune in the department of Allier
Vicq, Haute-Marne, a commune in the department of Haute-Marne
Vicq, Nord, a commune in the department of Nord
Vicq, Yvelines, a commune in the department of Yvelines
Vicq-d'Auribat, a commune in the department of Landes
Vicq-Exemplet, a commune in the department of Indre
Vicq-sur-Breuilh, a commune in the department of Haute-Vienne
Vicq-sur-Gartempe, a commune in the department of Vienne
Vicq-sur-Nahon, a commune in the department of Indre
Pressignac-Vicq, a commune in the department of Dordogne

Do you know in what region your father's house is ? If you add this to your question, I could tell you a little more about it.
Meanwhile I would not worry too much. At your age the other kids are likely to make you feel very welcome. Remember, you are going to be "the" expert in English. If you are British, you are going to be the "cool" person who knows all about the latest girl fashions, and if you are American they will want to know everything about your life in the USA, the film stars, the elections etc...Either way you will have rarety value.
If your French is not very good, things will be hard at the start from the point of view of your studies, but you will soon pick up the threads and your teachers will take special care of you and try to smooth your path as much as possible. Honestly French people are really nice when you have broken the ice. Just be yourself, smile, approach them pleasantly and they will be in the palm of your hand.

There are quite a few places with the word "vicq" in their names. "Vicq" comes from the Latin "vicus" and just means "a small village."

How things will seem to you depends, to an extent, are where you are coming from.

If you are an American you will probably find that French schools are much tougher academically than American schools, that students are more focused, and the relationships between adults and students is less casual than in the USA.

However, the notion that people will hate you because you are an American is pure drivel and anyone who tells you that is a moron.

You are really very lucky and although I understand your concerns you should look upon this as a wonderful opportunity and a great adventure. The opportunity to live in different places while you are young will give you an education, a sensitivity and a depth that will be tremendously valuable to you in later years. (Think how valuable it was to President Obama to have lived in Indonesia as a child).
