It depends on your nationality and from which country your passport was issued.

A valid visa for the UK does not automatically give you entry to the Schengen zone.
If you have to get a Schengen visa because it is required for the nationals of your country, apply at the French consulate in the country where you live at the moment.. You can actually apply for visas on the net.

You might need to get a Schengen visa. A friend came to visit us in Germany from the UK and he needed to buy one.

WHere are you from? Contact the French embassy and ask them if you can get into France to visit while in UK on holiday visa.

ciscowen
If you have a valid visa for the UK, visiting France should not be a problem.

Just remember to take your passport with you to your point of exit. You won't get out (or in again) without it. Once in France you should be able to travel all over most of the EU without it, but as UK is not a signatory to the "Schengen Agreement" you'll still need a passport.

Happy Trails!
