You have to legally reside in France for five years.

EDIT: Please note that the specific question he asked is "how long do I have to reside in France so I become naturilized [sic]?" The answer to that, without any other qualifier is "five years".

He didn't ask what else he might have to do, what other steps he might have to take, or whether there are other requirements.

It's not as simple as that. Don't believe everything on the internet wikipedia. Firstly, you need to apply a visa to enter France. It will take 4-6 weeks to proceed a visa for your country( Guinea), if the application is successful. Secondly, suppose you get your visa, you can only come to France and visit. You can't work, you can't claim benefit. I know in Guinea people speak French but it's been independent from France since October,1958, You can't live in France indefinitely unless you marry a French national or find an employer who's willing to back you up to apply for a carte de séjour. Either way, you won't get naturalized that easy. They will , after one year, issue you a carte de résident. With this card you can work and claim in France but it's only valid for one year. They will reconsider your situation every year before they renew your card. Some people live in France all their lives on a carte de résident. It's extremely hard to get naturalized. A neighbour of mine married a French women and has 3 children and has been living in France for 50 years. He is still a resident. And he had worked all his life in France until recently he retired. Imagine all that income tax he contributed to the French government, they still wouldn't grant him the citizenship, what makes you think that you just come along and get it ?

auparavant il faut obtenir l autorisation de venir en france et il faut trouver un logement et un travail

Well the laws were never really made. I think, I'm not sure, you have to live in France for 5 years, but there's other stuff you have to do. If you just ask for French citizenship now chances are they'll say yes, because you speak French. But there are some websites where you can find a list of obligations of some sort.
