I would suggest getting a roundtrip Dallas to London on one of the major airlines.

Then, I would suggest getting a multi-city London-Paris-Rome-London on one of the European commuter airlines, such as Ryan Air (there are several others).

London is a major hub, so that won't be too expensive as a roundtrip. Rome to Dallas would cost a fortune. Flying within Europe is pretty cheap. Good luck. Sounds like a fun trip!

a friend just told me about site 59 (www.site59.com) it looks pretty cheap, and he said it was the cheapest he's found

You have a couple of options. You could fly from Dallas London, take the Eurostar to Paris and a night train Paris to Rome and fly home Rome to Dallas or you can fly Dallas London / fly London - Paris / take train or cheap flight Paris to Rome / fly Rome to Dallas. I think the 2nd option would be the least expensive.

Whether or not you want to take the night train Paris - Rome probably depends on how much time you have. You would want to book a sleeper - and they can be expensive. The journey on the night train takes about 14 1/2 hours. If you are interested in rail check out http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm

There are several cheap airlines where you could get fares from Paris to Rome. Check out BMI and flyBE for London to Paris and EasyJet for Paris - Rome

I would check with British air. I think they go into Malan Rome and you take the train from there to Rome

Cheapest flights to London you usually get from New York (around 550$ excl. taxes with AA or north west)

Within Europe if booked in advance you can get flights from appr 80$ including taxes with Ryan Air, BUT the airports Ryan Air uses are usually far out of town and you have to calculate long transfer times and transfer costs of appr. 403 per trip.

If coming via London Heathrow you can also try to use Easyjet or Airberlin but there is a transfer of well over two hours from Heathrow to the departure airport .Have a look at the links for a rough fare calculation. Transfers can be looked up at Transport for London (TFL)

You can check www.ryanair.com for the flights in europe because traveling here in europe its real cheap even with the trains. You can find flights for 1 euro at ryanair try it its fun!
