As everyone else said, it is called Paracetamol. The brand names in France are Doliprane, Efferalgan and Dafalgan but you can also ask for a generic.

Now, if you or someone you know responds better to Aleve, which is naproxen, make sure you take some with you next time you go to France because naproxen 220mg or 250 mg is not sold over the counter but only on prescription in France.

LORI
I think in Europe it is called paracetamol.
edit**
That is what it is called, just ask for that at the pharmacy, I had the same problem when I was in England.

They call it paracetamol or parecetamol in Europe.

Cabal
Acetominiphin (acétaminophène in French) is called paracétamol in France.

Howard
Did you mean "acetaminophen"?
Yes, it's called Paracetamol in France.

Pharmacist and doctors usually have a book that translates the names of foreign drugs. You should tell them it's the name in USA (if you're from there) so they can look up the French name.

Edit: I was told Hydrocortisone cream is only sold with a prescription in France so I always have a tube with me (rashes, itching), just in case I need it. (this info has nothing to do with your question, just so people using anything make sure it's available where they're going, whereever that is).

As has been said, the generic name Paracetamol is used instead Acetaminophen in Europe.

The most widely available form is sold under the trade name Panadol.

FELIKS D.
Ask me the question in your native language, and perhaps I can be of some assistance.

Jesus
It's called a royal with cheese in france
