Berlitz offers a great software program that includes electronic flashcards, vocabulary building and audio files that can be uploaded to your iPod. Highly recommended.

A french answers!!!
I disagree with the person who told you that french was like english. It's totally untrue. English is an "anglo-saxon" ( i don't know the english for that) language like german, althought french is a "latin" ( i don't know either) language like spanish or italian. they are really both different. i know that because i'm trying to learn english and it's difficult for french people because both language have different way of thinking. if you can speak english, that won't help you to learn french. Even french people can't speak "good" french.
Bravo à ceux qui s'expriment en français!!!!!!

I took french in high school and college. I was pretty good when I had someone to speak with; since I have forgotten much of it.
I've been using my French Coach for Nintendo DS for the last few days.
It has brought back a lot to memory.
It can help with pronunciation verbs sentences new words etc.
You might want to check out something like that.

So you are serious when you say that you want to learn English!!
have you french friends? Or friends of your friends? If no try to find!!
you can find audio books on Internet, learn first the pronunciation of the different vowels, when you want and only when you want to know how we say whichever word in French you ask, because it will be more easier to memorize it!! And if you want sth, i am here! Please correct my mistakes! because i know that it is not perfect + i am 21!!

you see french people want to tease you, they are jealous!!!!!

jealous : jaloux mas ( do not pronounce the x)
jalouse fem ( do not pronounce the e, and here s is pronounced z)

C'est une langue très difficile à appréhender, même pour nos jeunes écoliers français.
Mais elle est particulièrement riche de multiples subtilités, et c'est un véritable plaisir que de s'exprimer grâce à elle.
