I want to see a stage of the Tour de France what do I need?

I am going to be in Eurpoe on the last two parts of the Tour 2008. I wat to go see the finish in Paris, but I'm sure it will be packed, so I want to see the time trial in Saint-Amand-Montrond (south of Paris). DO I NEED TO BUY TICKETS OR ANYTHING? OR DO I JUST SHOW UP?

no you just have to show up. but try to get there early (depending on what time the cyclists get there, 3 or 4 hours before) and then take a big breath ! the police will close the road only 30 mn before the first one .think about food and drinks and sunscreen and enjoy the few seconds you'll see the cyclists !

?
As a HUGE fan of bicycle racing, and the Tour de France as Lance Armstrong commanded it for so many years, I'd love to get to see and experience what you will. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I just had to express my joy and enthusiasm for what you'll get to see and experience. I've ridden my bicycles for thousands of miles here in the States, but never even knowing much about bicycle racing in my younger years. Enjoy! And take as many pictures as you can, not only of the race and racers but of the people and scenery around you. If this is the only one you ever get to attend, you certainly won't want to forget one instance of what you saw. God Bless you.

The tour de France is completely free. You just show up and enjoy the experience.
The most enjoyable moment is when you set up your "camp" and get to know the people who wait with you for the athletes.
I used to go every summer watching them when a little girl. It has always been a treat. As a kid I loved the "caravanne" they were giving you gadgets and other gizmos (caps, pens, stickers) sometimes we could take part of radio shows and so forth...

I will be packed especially the first and last stages, so arrive early, the best spot to be isn't at the finish line but on the side of the roads, especially if it is a time trial. You can see the contestants one by one speeding past you.
