I would like to visit a couple places totalling about 3 - 4 days not too far from Paris. Can you help? |
Flying into Paris 11/17 - 12/1 and want to spend 8 -9 days in Paris, then head to another semi-close area for 3-4 days (maybe explore 2 -3 different places, villages, cities) that we can get to fairly quickly either via train or a rental car.. I could use some suggestions of where are nice, romantic, interesting places to go. |

You might consider Lyon. Its only a short train trip from Paris and, according to many people, the standard of cooking is even higher than in Paris.
Its the second largest city in France and was founded by the Romans in 43 BCE. |

U should go in bretagne (in France) at rennes and after on the sea side (Mt St Michel or Kibron) But u know paris is quiet closed of a lot of city (3 hours from Marseille in the south) One hour from Lille...)
Vive le tgv if u have a lot of money! |

Paris itself is worth all the time you can spend seeing it...Between museums, palaces, magnificent avenues, churches, etc... You couldwander around for days!
Then outside the city itself:
You could rent a car and visit some or all the Chateaux in the Loire Valley,.
or
drive to Normandie, visit the beaches and see Honfleur,
or
drive to Brittany visit some of the towns and have some delicious seafood and crepes for dessert,
or
drive down to Mont Saint Michel
or
take a train to Chartres and visit one of the most beautiful cathedrals in France in this lovely town,
or
take a train to Brussels for a day or two...Belgium is also a lovely
country (great food too!),
or
take the Eurostar tunnel train from La Gare du Nord for a day trip to London,
or
Take a TGV (extra fast train) to Lyon and vist Le Vieux Saint Jean, the old medieval quarter of the city, the Parc de la TĂȘte d'Or, Place Bellecour, Rue de la RĂ©publique, the opera house and city hall, Les Brotteaux, where the old train station has been turned into an exposition hall, and definitely enjoy the food...it's the best in France! (Lyon is actually worth more than a short visit...you'll want to return!)
And on the outskirts of Paris you have Versailles, Fontainebleau, Rambouillet, Vincennes, all worth seeing...
But no matter where or what you choose to visit, you'll definitely enjoy it, France is a beautiful country! |

I have 3 suggestions and all are an easy trip from Paris:
--The Normandy Beaches and Mount St-Michelle, Popular
summer spots but in Nov/Dec you'll have the place to yourself.
These places differ from most historic sites, they are not
museums, people still live there & you are free to walk around
& tour the places yourself.
--Brussels, just a few hours north, the city rivals Paris for
shopping, entertainment, and culture, yet gets much less tourist traffic. I always found it more friendly than Paris and its a worthwhile destination in its own right.
--The chateau's of the Loire Valley; granted, some people
find looking at old buildings dull, but after the hustle & bustle of
Paris, its nice to get out of the city & i found the scenery & views outstanding. Maps of the area are available everywhere, expect to see lots of tour groups at the larger & more famous castles. |

Hey,
I just went there and I think 3 days will be enough for Paris and then you can go out side Paris... the most interesting places would be the museums.... and esp. the Louvre, really good...
I think you should go to Disney land, that would be superb, you will really enjoy your day there and the Chateau des Versailles.
Or else you can go to the Calais, really good for shopping I think. Hope you spend some nice time wherever u are going. |

Belgium is very close: Brugge (Bruges), Gent (Ghent or Gand), Brussel (Brussels) are only 300 km away, or 2 hours with the TGV (high speed train) and there is no border control anymore...
Otherwise some places in France: the wine castles of the Loire, Bourgogne, Dordonge,... The cliffs of Calais, Strassbourg,... |
