Minimum would be 50 euros spending money plus hotel per day, therefore 100+ euros a day = 700-1000 for a week. That's MINIMUM (breadline). If you want to have fun, go to museums, do trips, shop etc double it.

Paris is cheaper than London, especially the accomdoation side of things. Going out for a drink can be expensive though. I ve been known to spend ÂŁ7 for a bottle of Budweiser!

I would budget about $120-150 USD per inght for 3 star hotel, then another 100 per day for meals....so you are looking at a good $1500.00 plus taxi/subway/shopping expenses. Figure an even $2000.00

Depends how expensive your tastes are.

Are you going with anyone else? If so, splitting the hotel room is a smart idea.

You could stay at the Republique Hotel for maybe 80 Euros a night. If you show them the Rick Steves' Paris book, you get a free breakfast (which consists of your typical Parisian breakfast: croissants, hot tea, hot chocolate, some pastry. There's even Rice Krispies.). With two people, you've got 40 Euros each per night. Not too bad. I've stayed at the Republique and it is quite nice. It's quaint (read: small), but most European hotels are.

You could also stay at the Hotel Napoleon. It's a wee bit more, starting at 320 Euros per night. The rooms are beautiful, but you're in Paris...you're not going to be spending a lot of time in the room, eh?

Transportation...you should get a Metro pass. It's cheap, fast and easy. Don't buy individual tickets. If at all possible, get a Carte Orange. It's 15 Euros or so and lasts from Monday to Sunday. It allows you unlimited access to the Metro and the bus. If one ticket booth refuses to sell you one, go on to another. You can also purchase a carnet of Metro tickets...you get 10 for maybe 11 Euros. It's cheaper than buying them individually.

A Museum Pass can be a time and money saver. With the pass, you don't have to stand in line forever to get tickets. At many museums you can just waltz to the front of the line. Other museums have separate lines for pass-holders. It's good at over 60 sites. It's available in 2-day (30 Euros), 4-day (45 Euros) or 6-day (60 Euros) passes. It's particularly good to have the museum pass at Versailles and Ste. Chapelle.

I would budget at least 15 Euros for lunch and maybe up to 30 Euros for dinner, depending on where you go. Things can add up. If you love Coca-Cola, it can run you up to 7 Euros per glass. There are McDonalds and Quick restaurants (the Parisian answer to fast food) around. Even a few Pizza Huts and KFCs, believe it or not. A croque monsieur is quite tasty and relatively inexpensive (it's a toasted ham and cheese sandwich). It is very filling as well. If you want to drink water, ask for tap water (un carafe d'eau)...it's free. Otherwise, you'll get a bottle of water for 3-4 Euros, at least.

If you have a small water bottle, you can purchase a large bottle of water at the grocery store (not expensive at all!) and refill your bottle each morning before you leave for a day of sightseeing. It doesn't hurt to bring some zip-lock bags and put a few extra croissants from breakfast for snacks throughout the day. I haven't had any complaints thus far.

If you want to take an introductory bus tour of Paris to get your bearings, check out Paris Vision. They have a 2-hour bus tour with commentary for 19 Euros (28 Euros with a cruise along the Seine).

You'll also want to budget some money for souvenirs. If you look hard enough, you can find some very inexpensive souvenirs. Rue de Rivoli (the street across from the Louvre) is the best place to souvenir shop. You can find postcards 15 for 1 Euro or a mini Eiffel Tower for 1 Euro. Do some price comparisons before buying the first thing you see.

dep. on hotel you're staying ... Paris is the most expensive sight seeing city in the world... expect to spend about $50 a day (at least) on food, taxi, metro, museum admiss, etc.
