Go through a travel site man. Like expedia. They can set it all up 4 ya... and you don't even need to speak in French. Pluse if you do it through some uber kool travel site... you'll most likely save more then a bundle ; ) Expedia even has a lowest price travel garauntee!

I'd rather fax them in english since french are usually not very fit in spoken english especially if someone might have a bright accent. They will better understand something in written and are surely capable to answer in english.

best way is to email the hotel in question . write it in english then use an online translator site to translate it into french then copy and paste it into your email with both english and french version. you will find that most hotels will have an english speaker working there to read it anyway

It seems to me that it is better to fax or email.
If you phone then the person who answers may not be able to speak english or able to sufficiently comprehend you. The hotel may have staff who speak english but they may not be available at the instant you call.
But if you email or fax then the message can be passed on to whomever on the staff does speak english even if they are not there at the moment it is received.
