If you are the US citizenship you are fine, but if not, make sure you don't need the Schengen Visa. Because most european tourists need a visa to enter a european country, and with the EU having instaured a common visa after the Schengen agreement, you can use it to enter any EU country.
So having said that, if you are clear on this formality, you can drive from barcelona to France thru the Pyrenees with no problem. There are still customs obviously. So have you passport on hand and be ready to be controlled.

Henri, pas la peine d'user d'insultes inutiles. I speak of experience, as much as you go thru customs at the airports, you can still be checked at the entrance at the french borders or others. I have been while driving my car and family.
Peut etre que tu sais un tas de chose mais franchement, c'est un peu immature de ta part de denigrer les dires des autres.

Yes. No problem.
And the drive through the Pyrenees is beautiful. Don't forget to visit the Salvador Dali Museum on your way.

I have made the the drive from the north west of France to the south east of Spain and back and time of year will decide how many people will be on the road with you. Aug.can be tough.

Henri S
@guynext... answer is stupid : if you land Barcelona and get thru custom and immigration , you are in Schengen area meaning you have already been checked, so driving into France is just like crossing States borders inside the US

so the right answer is just yes without any problem

when landing in Spain the first border where you have to check again is Switzerland (not EC) or UK (not Schengen and alos risky country : mad cow disease, muslim freaks nest, ...)
