"When in Rome, do as the Romans."

I absolutely would. I have studied French, as well as Spanish and German. And I've picked up some Arabic, Farsi, and Tagalog along the way. Of course, language has been easy for me, it happens to be my strength. Others do well in music, mathematics, art, or any of a number of other fields.

By the way, when I meet an immigrant here in the U.S.A., I find they are very impressed if I can greet them in their native tongue.

So yes, learn the language of the country in which you choose to live. The locals will appreciate it, and it will make your life much easier, too.

Well I already know French so I'd prolly learn Basque or Provençal. Actually, learning Arabic would be useful for when the Arabs take over. To tell you the truth, like KJ, I'd never move there.

Yes I would. Just so it would be easier for me to communicate with my new neighbors. It was my choice to go there and you can't expect them to learn english, so why not learn their language. Besides, what harm could being bilingual do? Kind of fun actually, I'd look forward to it. Expanding my mind a bit. I'd try to learn as much as I could before I moved their though, cuz body language could only get you so far. When people from other countries move here and don't learn english I don't care. to each their own. They're still people after all and that's enough for me.
