The Franche Compte area. The fresh walnuts are just about ready now, and they grow wild in that area. The auberges are great and the food really good. You can cross over into Switzerland (Basle) by tram and stroll along the banks of the Rhine |

I would camp at the campground on the banks of the Rhone right next to the castle at Tarascon. It is in the perfect location for sightseeing in the south of France. |
