Go see the catacombs under the city! There are thousands upon thousands of old skeletons down there (stacked up in ornate piles and walls along the tunnels) that were moved there in the 1700's to help with the city's overflowing graveyard problem. The catacombs have made their way into a lot of literature, movies, etc, but haven't fallen into a cheap "touristy" feel at all. It's a long walk down steep, spiral stairs, through the winding passages and back up again, but a breeze unless you have a disability. It really makes you wonder about each person's history, how they lived, when they died, as well as considering they had no idea they would eventually be dug up and touched by a lone tourist on her birthday in the new millennium.

You should definitely go see the Eiffel tower, walk towards Arc de Triomph (well, could be a very cold this time of year), go to the Cartier des Artists (many food shops, small boutiques,ect...). Lots of things to do. How long are you going for? Definitely enjoy the food & pastries. They are really good, not too sweet like some desserts from the US. Take a boat ride down the River. They have tours, which is worth the $$, I think, to get some info/history on the city of Paris.

Have a Safe trip & Enjoy yourself - Happy Birthday as well!!! :0)
