In France, is it more common to spell it "Thibault" or "Thibaut"? ?

I know both are French names, but which spelling is more common?

From most common to least common as a family name:
1) Thibault
2) Thibaut
3) Thibaud

Thibault is nearly 3 times more common than Thibaut or Thibaud. It is the original spelling, other spellings are derived from it.

As a first name, the number of boys named Thibault (with the -LT spelling) since 1900 is also the highest:
1) Thibault (over 40,000)
2) Thibaut (over 29,000)
3) Thibaud (over 12,000)

The origin of the name is theud bald = the brave tribe (Germanic name).

Cabal
Thibault is the most common spelling.

I know one frenchman with this sort of name, and he spells it "Thibault". Though not a very representative profile with a sample size of one.
It's funny that the Yahoo! spell checker wants me to change "Thibault" to one of four other varieties.
