Is Alsace worth a visit?

Could you tell me a little about it.
How can I reach it from Paris? And is it worth a visit?
All I know is that it's a hero village that resisted the Germans.
Additional Details
It looks German.

Alsace is a region of France - it is on the French/German border and has been swapped between the two countries at various times in its history. Its very interesting and worth a visit.

You can get a train from Paris - see http://www.sncf.com for train information (click on British flag in bottom left corner for info in English) - they've just opened a fast tgv train line to Alsace so its now even quicker.

See http://www.tourisme-alsace.com/index.php?lg=en for general information on Alsace

Alsace is indeed worth a visit. Its landscape are quite typical : from West to East you get :
- the ridges of the Vosges mountains with ruined castles overlooking the Rhine valley
- gentle slopes typically covered with vineyards and nice wine producing villages
- the lower part of the Rhine valley which is more densely settled, apart from some marshy areas such as the river Ill valley

Alsace is easily reachable by train and now only 2 hours from Paris by TGV.

It's worth the trip, just like so many gems in France. :o)

The food is absolutely fabulous, they have an excellent white wine called Gewurztraminer (exists also in Australia, Germany & USA), the architecture is beautiful, it's quiet, and people are nice!!

2h20 from Paris, by TGV (63€ for a 2nd class ticket, normal period, 79€ for the peak one)

If you are less than 25, I recommend you to buy the "12-25" card: you save 25% guaranteed on each trip but 50% is common. This cards costs 49€ and is valid for a year (with a number of trips UNLIMITED)
Without card: 2*63=126€
With card: 49+ (2*31.50)=112€

If you are too "old", try to book your ticket in advance (10 days ahead) so, you can get a cheaper ticket with "Prem's fare".
52€ in 2nd class (instead of 63€) and 67€ for the 1st class.

What to see: Cathedral of Strasburg, Petite France in Strasburg ,Riquewihr, Colmar villages to taste some good white wines... and to try alsacian food (if you are on a diet, forget about it) and so many things to see.
