Carry On..!
Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in a beautiful area, not far from the Med especially if you've a hire car, (Narbonne / Montpelier). It's quite a steep walk up to the top but worth it. Just avoid the bus loads of students, you'll see what I mean.

It's amazing how despite so many wars and skirmishes, the walls are still there, even though some have been rebuilt, it's been done tastefully. Well worth a visit.

estepona
Yes, it is a nice medieval castle, big and in good conditions. Anyway I do not see it to spend a lot of time there, one or two days is enough.

You can also rent a car a go to visit the Pyrenees mountains.

It's a few years since I was last there, but I remember it as a nice old historic place with a castle - I believe it has Roman origins.

Yes. I loved Carcassonne and I was only there for about two hours and I wished I could have been there longer. It's nice to walk around there and I remember going to a really nice cafe and there was another store that sold good candy/cookies.

I live 60kms from Carcassonne, it is lovely.
Check out carcassonne-tourisme. com, the cities official tourist web site.
There is loads to do for all age groups and it is well placed for touring the region as well
Please note there is not a double 'c' in the spelling

We were just there over Christmas. We stayed in Arles and made a day trip out of it. Not sure you'd need more than one day to explore the Medieval castle. From a tourist perspective, I don't think there is not much going on in Carccassone besides the castle.
If you have a car, you are close enough to lots of nice places in the area... Toulouse, Montellier, Perpignon, the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees mountains. It's lovely down there.
