Is France a democracy?

Well... it's a modern democracy. The only democratic thing left is your vote. The parliaments doen't give a damn about people anymore, and the freedom of speech is worth nothing since the few big parties have much more money than others. Freedom of religion, when Muslims are not allowed to wear hijabs and they are suspected as terrorists?
But you know, I think it was always like this. :(

Officially it is a democratic republic lead by a president Jaques Chirac. Actually it is a country that like any other is run by incompetent politicians, that take pleasure in p***ing there own population off with such decisions as their job scheme.

I think they think so - if they are happy, why worry?

So far it is. You can still say whatever you want on TV/radio about the gouvernment without being arrested. You can riot on the streets without being shot. Presidents and Mayors are democraticly elected by the people.

But all that is a political philosophical idea of Freedom.

The truth is that in France, like in any other major industrialized country, everyone is ruled by the True God a.k.a Free-Market Economy. Consume or Die

Buster Van Buren
No. It is a socialist country.
