Is Jim Morrison's grave sight still an interesting tourist stop?

If his music is important to you then "yes" but otherwise it's not a remarkable grave site. It sits away from the main path and is a tiny plain grave with a headstone in greek (I have no idea why it is in greek).

But Pere Lechaise cemetery is FANTASTIC! Definitely worth going to see an amazing and historic cemetery which has a very long and interesting history of vampirism, necrophilia, revolution, executions, grave robbing, prostitition but is also the resting place of some very great people: Chopin, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Balzac...

If you sneak in over the walls at night you will see the secret ceremonies of the masons, satanists, and other secret french societies.

There are also secret entrances in the cemetery into the famous catacombs of Paris (if you wander around enough you can find them!). There you will find the secret underground film society! They show old films to a select audience in underground vaults in the catacombs. The film vault gets discovered every so often by police so has to be moved. If you talk to the right people you can be directed to the film vault. They only show films once a week and very late at night.

But, be careful, as French police sometimes patrol at night and there are hidden camera in various spots.

When I was there all there was was a lot of dead heads, or druggies sitting around mooning. Made it sort of sad to see, but I really wanted to go. Maybe by now they have cleaned it up! I think if you are interested in Jim Morrison or the Doors that it is a nice place to visit!

It depends on your tastes. When I went to Pere Lachaise I took a tour which turned out to be pretty interesting ... The tour lasted well over an hour and I got to see the graves of Oscar wilde, Chopin, Champignon, Edith piaf and others. All are interesting to see but I thought the Jim Morrison's was the least i liked. But taking a tour there is worth it !

course it is. Last time I went there, there was a lot of people around. You'll have to get a map of the cemetery, though, coz the tomb is hard to find.

I was lucky enough to visit Jim's grave several times before the barricades were put up. I went early in the morning, just when the gates to Pere Lachaise open, to avoid the crowds. So many people just hang out there and drink whiskey, get rowdy and write graffiti everywhere. Each time I went, I was alone, and it was peaceful and beautiful. The gendarmes left me alone because I was respectful to Jim and his grave.

Not only is his grave an interesting site, but the entire cemetary is, as well. It is a bit hilly, and there are stairs to walk, but on a nice day it is quite pleasant, quiet and peaceful and very interesting to see all of the other important graves as noted. They have a wonderful website with an interactive tour so you can see the route to each grave and it also tells a bit about each of the noteworthy people there. We found the entire experience well worth it and there were more people at Morrison's grave than anyone else, so it is quite popular. Just south of here on Rue de Picpus is another grave that is quite interesting as well: Lafayette's. But it is pretty hard to find and it is not always open because it is inside a convent. You can find directions of how to find it if you are really interested.

The first time I went to Paris, I saw his tomb. Now I'm living in Paris.
