Is June a good time of the year to travel to Paris?

I'm just curious because I went in May and it was quite cold so in your opinion what would best time during the spring/summer season to go to Paris.

I visited Paris in late june 2006. It was wonderful, it was very beautiful and very hot.

Hell, June's a good time for anything.

The summer is high season in Europe and expensive. I would avoid August as the entire country is on vacation then. But June and July are great.

June or September! My friend who lives in Paris told me that it is very hot in July and August there.

Sorry Rillifan but June is NOT one of the wettest months of the year, it is actually one of the driest, with 12 days of rain on average (only November and December are drier with 10 days but it's often overcast whereas June has only 1 day of overcast weather on average).

Rainfall in mm (60 in June) is not a significant indicator: sunny Mediterranean cities like Nice, Montellier and Nîmes have far more rain accumulation than Paris. In Paris monthly rainfall ranges between 40 mm and 60 mm throughout the year so it's pretty much the same year round. June has indeed heavy downpours and much, sudden accumulation but the general impression is that it's a sunny month because the rainstorms are violent but short and half of them occur at night.

But Dee Dee the weather in Paris is very unpredictable, so dress in layers. It can be very hot and muggy late June for a few days until a rainstorm clears it up and then it cools down drastically. The average high temperature is 72F and the average low 56. I have seen gorgeous and hot months of May (even April) and crappy summers, so you cannot predict really. Best weather is typically in spring and summer but as you know from your past experience it is not always true. I have also noticed that the French weather forecast are often wrong compared to the US (and yet they have excellent training) so even they cannot tell what the weather is going to be. Just hope for the best, pack different types of clothes and enjoy Paris anyway!

EDIT @ Rillifane: I prefer to define a wet month by the number of rainy days than by the rainfall accumulation in mm or cm, because otherwise a lot of Mediterranean towns (as I already stated) would be considered wet when in fact they have a dry climate with few rainy days. I think it gives a much better sense of what the weather is like, which is what tourists ask for ("how likely is it that it's going to rain during my vacation?" rather than "how many millimeters of water will I collect in a bucket if I leave it outside for a month?") so they can plan their activities and what to wear. Rainfall quantity is only relevant to farmers, meteorologists or geologists but it is no indicator of how the weather feels. Saying that June is one of the wettest months makes it sound like a bad month to visit weatherwise when it's actually one of the loveliest times of year.

June is OK, but book and guarantee your hotel room early as there is a mad rush of people working before the main french holidays in July and August.

Two star hotels such as Ibis, Campanile, etc are very reasonable.

Rillifane
It will certainly be warmer. The average temperture in May is 57.2 degrees F and 62.6 degrees F in June.

However, even in June the evening temperatures average only 55.4 degrees F. the low tonight, for example is expected to be 53 degrees.

You should also note that June is one of the wettest months of the year and sudden downpours are common.

EDIT@ChocoBN

You're wrong.

The only month with more average rainfall than June is July. I can think of no other way to define "wettest" other than by the amount of "wet" that falls.

Average rainfall in Paris by month:

January 46 millimeters
February 39 millimeters
March 41 millimeters
April 45 millimeters
May 56 millimeters
June 56 millimeters
July 57 millimeters
August 55 millimeters
September 53 millimeters
October 56 millimeters
Novermber 54 millimeters
December 49 millimeters
November 54 millimeters
