Yes, Paris may be the most beautiful city in Western Europe, mainly because of the way the city had been planned and designed with wide boulevards, village-like arrondisements, and eye-popping monuments (Eiffel Tower, Arc d'Triomphe) and palatial buildings(Louvre Museum, Conciergerie, Paris Opera), and iconic cathedrals (Notre Dame, Sacre Cour). Modern tall buildings are not allowed to be built in the city center, and they are relegated to the periphery or outskirts of the city, and thus it has preserved its elegant appearance. It is a city that has symbolized fine art and culture, high fashion, haute cuisine, and romantic love for ages. |

It's a beautiful city, especially for tourists. Just make sure you're polite to everybody, and most everybody will be polite to you. |

Yes, it's as beautiful as they say.
It's also as ugly as they say.
It's a city - there are lots of fabulous and disgusting facets to it. |

Yes, I think Paris is very beautiful. I just spent a week there a couple months back. I disagree that it is "filthy." This may be true in some of the suburbs but certainly not in any of the tourist areas of Paris. I found it to be surprisly friendly and clean. The Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elsyess, Louvre, Notre Dame....all beautiful. I would encourage you to go outside of the city a bit and see some of the country. Quite breathtaking. |

Not really. I've been there several times. Its polluted, the river stinks, theres dog sh*t all over the place, and if you dont speak perfect Parisian french, alot of people make fun of you....Oh, and the traffic is god damn nightmare.
Those are the negatives anyway. On the positive side, the Eiffel tower is cool. They have a great cemetary where plenty of famous people are buried...like Jim Morrison for example. The food there is great. Lots of big museums if youre into that. Les Champ Elysees are beautiful thats true so is the Notre Dame Cathedral...
I dont know, maybe some people would think its beautiful, but I wasnt too impressed. Dont let that discourage you from going though if youre thinkin about it. France is a pretty cool country overall.
Peace |

Paris is a hole - I've been twice, the first time was bad enough there, second time was a mistake and i now know i really do hate the place. Its a dirty city, overpriced and full of rude french people! Don't go there, you'll be disappointed! |

Yes Paris is beautiful
No it isn't always
It has good and bad sides (probably like most cities of this size).

Yes - and more. Paris is heart-achingly beautiful. It is truly an embraceable city - and so easy to navigate. If you go to one city in Europe - make it Paris. Don't listen to all the negative comments. All you have to do is be polite and you will get polite back. All French people need to know is that you at least try to say "Bonjour" or "Bon Soir" - and why not because when in Rome, do as the Romans do - aaah, Rome, but that is another beautiful city... |

Well, I've been studying abroad in Paris for the past 3 months. Paris is a city, but a small one. The architechture is amazing--everything has meaning. But like all cities, it has its good parts and its bad parts. If you stay in the center of Paris, where the richest "quartiers" or "arrondissements" are, then sure, the cobblestone, narrow streets, and speciality shops will be perfectly charming. The closer to the border of Paris you get, the more likely you'll feel like you're straight-up in Brooklyn (or whatever working neighborhood you have near you).
Spring is coming, though, and Paris can only get prettier! |
