Is it possible to travel by bus from Paris to Carcassone in France?

I want to visit Carcassone in August and so far my option is to go by TGV or to fly directly. But I want to see some of the French countryside.

Whoa! TGV, plane or bus are not the only options. You can take the slower, conventional trains. On the SNCF website, look for the Corail (for the mainline trip) and TER (for a shorter regional connection) trains. They'll probably make more stops and of course they'll travel slower, but you'll be able to see things at about the same pace as driving on a US freeway.

As one of the answerers said, even on the TGV, you still get a great view. This is especially true of things in distance.

And you're going to Carcassonne! I love that place - the old walled city and the newer city below -- both are fantastic. Have a great time.

Bonne chance et bon voyage !

I agree with the previous person.
The TGV is fast. But you still get agood view. It doesn't seem so fast when you are in it.

If you want to take your time, a better option is to break your journey into several stages.

Hiya,

There is no Buses City link service in France.
The only way to get down to Carcassone is the Train or rent a car.
Here is the train service website :

http://www.sncf.com/

I hope it help.

you should be able to see the countryside from a train as well - I would suggest that route because bus routes in Europe are really not very fun. From my experience, they are overcrowded, smelly and take FOREVER.
