Is it safe to drink the water in Paris, France?

Water quality is an issue all over the world. Does Paris have drinkable water, or should I count on buying bottled water when I'm there?

Paris water is drinkable for sure.

Indeed, the water comes from 200km away and is checked, 24 hours a day especially since the chemicals threats due to terrorism.

So you can drink tap water with no problem. I personaly don't like its taste but there is no health problems when drinking it for sure !

Of course. Third world countries are all that you have to worry about. Mexico for example, or Iraq.

I just checked back, and am really shocked that there are so many maybes. There is no doubt that water in Europe is fine.

Of course!!! I know it sounds weird but we have electricity in France, Television, cars, safe water, shops, supermarkets with every products in it, we don't travel by horse, we don't rape our daughters. France is as developped as the USA.

Perhaps you thought Borat was French, no?

Funny question! Even if the water quality wasn't good, do you really think water costs 10$ per liter?

Yes you can. It's very safe.

the Paris tap water is tested many times a day, some districts even drink water from a natural source, if I recall one of their safeguards (dating back to quite a while ago) was a carp, apprently they are extremely sensitive to any form of pollution. They obviously use more modern tests nowdays.

French people have been well trained by excellent marketing companies to drink bottled water (sic.), but tap water is excellent just presented in a different form

I wouldn't drink their water while they still have wine and cognac.

Cafes will try to sell you bottled water - but all european water is perfectly safe for drinking. In some cases it's cleaner - paris gets the same water evian uses!

rukidding
Yes. I was there for two weeks, drank the water, and never had a problem.

I would say you can safely drink the water in Paris, France. They sanitize the water and its generally as safe as in the United States or Canada.
Its usually the countries that are classified as developing , that you need to worry about.

Honesly, water in France is absolutely fine. Let's face it, their wine is made from it and I've had no ill effects thus far!

snapdragon747
you can drink the water in paris but it depends on where you are. Most of the french buy bottled water which is very cheap. Water in the best hotels is usually filtered. Many years ago whilst travelling through the french canals on a tight budget we drank the water out of taps all over the country with no problems. Some times we drank river water. We even drank the water out of the Seine but we boiled it first.

Diamond
i really dont know. just bring extra water with you or buy bottled wwaer where ever you go!

Apparently the wine is cheaper than the water.

But yes, the water is safe to drink.

I'm not sure, but I don't think it sounds like it's a good idea.
Bring some bottled water with you on the trip, just in case.
