Is it true in france that there is low rape cases because they're more open with their sexuality?

I think it's less a case of openess with sexuality but of *lack* of openess with reporting rape. Reporting crime happens less often in general here in France than compared to the U.S. or U.K. for example.

I would also venture to say that it might have to do with young peoples' socialization patterns. French kids are under a lot more academic stress than their counterparts elsewhere in the world. Compared to other western countries, they're more likely to live at home, eat with their families every evening, not work in the evenings (or at all), not have a driver's license, etc. all which would mean less likelyhood of a girl being put in a situation where a rape could more easily occur.

Rillifane
The incidence of rape in France (0.139442 per 1,000) is lower than in the USA (0.301318) but higher than such countries as Latvia (0.0454148), Indonesia (0.00567003) and Georgia (0.0100492) , none of which are known for their openness concerning sexuality.

And given that the lowest incidence of rape is in Saudi Arabia (0.00329321) it appears that the suggestion that the highest incidence of rape is in countries where sex education is taboo is spectacularly wrong.

Indeed, your question makes an assumption that is of dubious validity, i.e. that the French are "more open" with their sexuality. (More open than who is something you don't tell us).

I suspect you mean to suggest that the French are more open than Americans about their sexuality. Frankly, I don't think this is true. Many people make the error of thinking that because there is a somewhat more casual attitude about displaying skin in the French media or on a French beach that this equates to a general casualness about sex.

As Eclipse said the problem with numbers of rape reported is knowing how many are reported vs their real numbers. Rillifane says that rape is extremely low in Saudi Arabia, but raped women in that country are accused of unlawful sex and can go to jail, so very few women dare report a rape.
So to answer... as long as you don't have serious numbers you can't know if this is true or not. But rape is a danger in France as much as in other countries.

The highest incidence of sex crimes occurs in countries where sex education is taboo.

no..rape is nothing to do with sexuality anyway. Nor is it about the availability of sex. It is a hate crime. An act of violence and degradation. You need to educate yourself about life and society before you go anywhere
