YES!!!

It is always worth it. A bit of advice, from Marseille to Cannes/Nice the best way is the bus called Les Phocéens. It is a 2h30 ride, but it is still quicker than the train and cheaper.

You can go swimming there if you'd like, but the water will be cold (however there are always people swimming, and the "Xmas bath" is very famous).

Have fun

Hi !

It's worth visiting Southern France all year round. But you won't be able to go swimming at this time of year because it is definitely too cold (gotta wait April or May at least).

There aren't that many things to see in Marseilles so I'd recomment not to stay a while there. But you'll have a lot of things to do and see in Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monaco.
If you can make it to Avignon and Aix en Provence before going to Marseilles it could be a great trip.

It would be best to wait at least until first of March.

But not much longer as spring time is big in the south of France
for foreigners.

The end of February could make do.

I wouldn't go in the winter, not much to do, wait until April or May, it's not crowded yet then and weather should be nicer.
Marseille is also not that nice of a city, love Cannes, Nice and Monaco :)

it all depends on what you're going there to do.

if it's to lay on the beach, there's no reason to come, it will be wayyyyy too cold!! If it's to soak up the atmosphere when the place isn't over run with tourists, and really feel what the south of france is about, well then you could be pleasantly surprised. You don't have to do anything special, just wander through the cities, stop into cafes and speak a bit with the locals that speak english. You'll find a wonderful intriguing world.
