Snails are usually an entrée, or starter, when they are served alone, but there are main courses which have snails in the mix (pie, cagouillade, with mushrooms, and other such courses). |

stand alone, it's an appetizer. I guess you could cook it in something and use it as a main though. |

Snails would be served as an appetizer. They are not big enough to make a meal, you would need over 50 of them to make them filling. Most serve them in a garlic butter, delicious! |

It is more often served as an appetizer in France, than in Maine. Lobster, on the other hand, is a very typical main course served in Maine. |

It can be either, once you get the garlic butter and the bread involved it can be very filling, sometimes they serve it in a puff pastry too, I haven't seen much of that, if at all in the USA. I get it as a main course all the time and I love it. |

When snails are very big, say as big as my butts, the first problem is how to catch them without danger, then cook them
in spite of their fierce screams,
if the sauce pan is big enough, individually -
In this case, snails are of course a main course |
|

Hey there
